Odds are, you never thought about what to look for in a concrete contractor — until you actually need one.
In reality, it’s not something that any of us think about on a regular basis. But when you need one, it’s important to find one that does a good job.
You don’t want someone who is going to promise to get done on time and within your budget to then fins out they can’t do either. Or that they get the job done but it’s not sone well and needs to be fixed.
Finding good concrete contractors isn’t hard but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Learn About the Concrete Contractors Around You
Do a little research and find the contractors who are in your area. While looking at their reviews online can be helpful, you need to keep in mind that most sizable companies have marketing teams to help them look good.
Reviews are more helpful to weed people out. If they have a lot of bad reviews, they are not a good choice for you.
You’ll also want to look up a little bit about the work you want to have done, that way when you’re talking to the contractors you know what they are talking about.
How Long Have They Been in Bussiness?
How long the concrete contractors have been in business says a lot about the quality of their work. If they’ve been in business for 5 or more years then they are most likely a good bet.
Around 50 percent of all businesses don’t survive their first 5 years. So if the people you’re looking at have survived that then you know they will probably have good work.
Ask for Recommendations and References
A good way to find your contractors is to get recommendations. If you know anyone who has had similar work done, ask them who did theirs and how they felt about it. If they liked their contractors then you know that everything should go smoothly.
Next thing you can do is to ask the contractors for references. Most reputable companies like Hymix will have no problem showing you some of their past work. The older the concrete is the better the reference is, most issues you would have wouldn’t happen for 3 or 4 years.
Do They Stand Behind Their Work?
It’s always a good idea to ask if they have any guarantee. That way if it does crack or something happens to the work you had done they can come back out to fix it.
You should also make sure that the concrete contractors are willing to fix anything that the might break during their work. Things like damaged lawns, sidewalks or other landscaping.
Find Your Concrete Contractors
It might seem a little overwhelming, but don’t let finding concrete contractors stress you out. If you follow what we’ve laid out here you should have a really great start.
