On October 28, 2016, Commander Fred Marable was inducted into The Veterans Hall of Fame as a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and as a Buffalo Soldier of the Arizona Territory; featured at the State Capitol Muuseum. Approved by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission Board of Directors as the OFFICIAL ARIZONA CENTENNIAL LEGACY PROJECT "Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory - Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regiment (9th and 10th Cavalry and 24th and 25th Infantry)" organization in the State of Arizona on August 11, 2011. Owner of the Official PROCLAMATION "Buffalo Soldiers Day," June 19th as Arizona Celebrate 100th Years as a Statehood, February 14, 1912 - 2012 and 101st Statehood Day, February 14, 2013 at the State Capitol. African Americans have served proudly in every great American war. In 1866, through an act of Congress legislation was adopted to create six all African-American Army units. The units were identified as the 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 38th, 39th 40th, and 41st Infantry regiments. The four Infantry regiments were later reorganized to form the 24th and 25th Infantry regiments. These fighting men represented the first Black professional soldiers in a peacetime army. The nickname "Buffalo Soldiers" began with the Cheyenne warriors in 1867. The actural Cheyenne translation was "Wild Buffalo". This name was given out of respect for the fierce fighting ability of the 10th Cavalry. Over time, "Buffalo Soldiers" became a generic term for all African-American soldiers. We stand as a people in memory of great Black people who died and fought for this country freedom. As a people without freedom we took a stand and from this stand came a Great People who rose from the dust of the Earth. BUFFALO SOLDIERS were for Courage, Sacrifice, Bravery, Loyalty and Devotion to Duty. LADIES OF THE REGIMENT is one of Honor, Dignity and Respect from some of the women on the frontier with their Heroisms' which they were living. Giving these Black Women a voice today is a privilege and honor and should be respected as such. "Black Women of the Old West and Young Buffalo Soldiers". MOTTO: "To acknowledge the heroic stand of all those years ago that the "Buffalo Soldiers, 9th and 10th Cavalry and 24th and 25th Infantry, Year: 1866 - 1902 was seeking equality for all, which made this diversity of choice possible today."
